The Chennai Super Kings are still waiting for fitness updates from important players, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar. Both players sustained injuries during last month’s white-ball series against the West Indies.

Ruturaj suffered a hand injury, while Chahar suffered a hamstring rupture. Chahar may be out of play for at least six to eight weeks. “We are unaware of their present fitness level. As a result, we won’t be able to inform you when they’ll be joining the squad “Kashi Vishwanathan, CEO of CSK, stated on Sunday.

About the Players

Ruturaj Gaikwad made his debut in the 2016-17 Vijay Hazare Trophy, finishing as the tournament’s third-highest run-scorer. His ability to remain solid and play risk-free cricket while scoring at a reasonable rate drew early attention. Chennai Super Kings acquired Gaikwad in the 2019 Indian Premier League player auction.

He was awarded the Orange Cap for accumulating the most runs (635) during the 2021 competition. In addition, he was named Emerging Player of the Year. Chennai Super Kings retained Gaikwad for 6 crores ahead of the 2022 IPL auction.

Chahar, a bowler in the mould of Praveen Kumar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, learned swing bowling at his father’s teaching institute. He has the greatest bowling stats in all T20Is, with 6 for 7 against Bangladesh in 2019-20. In 2010-11, he made a stunning first-class cricket debut for Rajasthan, capturing 8 wickets for 10 runs. Chahar’s swing bowling quickly won him a youth contract with the IPL’s Rising Pune Supergiants.

In the 2018 IPL auction, Chennai Super Kings roped him in to the squad. His bowling abilities improved under MS Dhoni’s captaincy in Chennai Super Kings’ victorious return to the IPL in 2018. Dhoni utilised him wisely with the new ball, frequently bowling three overs in the Powerplay.

Chahar earned INR 14 crore during the IPL 2022 mega auction. However, the 29-year-old will most certainly miss the opening part of the IPL, if not the entire competition.

Updates On The Players’ Injury

Both players are recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Following the completion of the recovery program, the Indian players must participate in a series of fitness tests. Following that, all Indian players must report to the NCA and obtain a clearance certificate.

“Obviously, the BCCI stated that they will notify us once they are match-fit. They are currently at the NCA “Vishwanathan elaborated.

CSK’s available players have arrived in Surat and are training at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium. CSK’s IPL 2022 season will begin with a match against Kolkata Knight Riders, headed by MS Dhoni. They will play the first league match on March 26 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

There are many sports in the world. Some people likes football, and others likes cricket or basketball. But I love to play cricket because it is a game of gentalman. I am a left-handed batsman and a left-arm orthodox bowler. I played an inter-college tournaments. Also, I represented my college cricket team as vice captain. Ms. Dhoni is my idol, and the Chennai Super Kings are my all-time favourite franchise.
