Due to the pandemic, the Ranji Trophy was on hold. As far, the situation is in control you might get to see the Ranji trophy match back on track. 

The Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah gave a statement on Thursday with a lot of determination towards the tournament. Furthermore, with determination at the back of the Ranji Trophy to get it back on track. 

After the break for two years, the Domestic Tournament- The Ranji Trophy back on the road with a lot of hard work done by people. 

Jay Shah shared a tweet from his official account as he is excited that Domestic Indian Premier League- The Ranji Trophy is back on track. He seems happy to share that red-ball be the center of attention for several days.

Know More About-The Ranji Trophy 

The Ranji Trophy matches started way back in the past. The first match took place on November 4, 1934. The tournament’s very first match was between Madras and Mysore.

Furthermore, The Ranji Trophy is a domestic first-rate cricket tournament played by the cricketers. The Indian teams of different states represent their states in the tournament. Currently, the tournament includes 38 teams. The 38 teams consist of 28 states and 4 of the 8 Union Territories representing their teams. They compete to win the title for their State and Union Territories. 

The tournament is named in honor of the first international cricket player, Ranjitsinhji from India. He was popularly known as Ranji. 

Indeed, Mumbai Has won the title of Ranji Trophy 41 times. They won 15 times back-to-back. 

Ranji Trophy- After The Pandemic

The tournament will happen in two parts. With the confirmation regarding the pre-Indian Premier League (IPL) part taking place from February 10 till March 15. Also, the Post- Indian Premier League (IPL) tends to take place from May 30 until the end of June. 

This year the tournament will take place for more than two months which includes 64 matches to take place. 

Further, There are two kinds of groups that participate in the tournament. One of the groups is the Elite Group, eight groups fall under this category. And the other one is the Plate Group. 

Elite Group will consist of 4 teams. On the other hand, the Plate Group will consist of 6 teams. As the matches take place, the Elite group teams will compete with each other to reach the Quarterfinals. Though, the remaining eight low-ranked qualified teams will compete with the top team, which belongs to the Plate Group in the pre-quarterfinals. 

Let’s wait and watch which state or union territory team will take the prestigious Title of Ranji Trophy for their respective states or unions. Also, Saurashtra and Mumbai tend to participate in the Ranji Trophy. The tournament may see Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara competing for the title.
