ICC Women’s World Cup Begin: New Zealand Women vs India Women

The ICC Women’s World Cup begins on March 4, 2022. The matches are still going on, so far ICC Women’s World Cup has seen four matches. As for the first day, Indian Captain Mithali Raj won the toss. She chose to field first. Ruchira Palliyaguruge (SL), Sue Redfern (ENG), and Lauren Agenbag (SA) received the honorary position of Umpire for ICC Women’s World Cup 2022. Shandre Fritz (SA) got the opportunity of being a referee for the Women’s World Cup. 

Teams who participate in ICC Women’s World Cup: Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and West Indies.

ICC Women’s World Cup Format:

The ICC Women’s World Cup follows a similar format as the league format. In this format, where each team needs to face each other in the league. Hence, there are eight matches in the ICC women’s world cup. Moreover, the top four teams of the league face each other in the semi-finals.  

India Vs New Zealand Day 1:

The ICC Women’s World Cup began and the match between them started on March 9, 2022. The Indian Women’s team captain Mithali Raj won the toss and chose the field first. New Zealand began the batting for the match. In the starting 9.5 overs, they made 50 runs and lost one wicket. At the 18.4 overs, New Zealand made 100 runs at 2 wickets. In the 27th over New Zealand lost their third wicket at 150 runs. The match continued and at 39 over New Zealand landed on 203 runs at cost of 4 wickets. However, K Martin lost her wicket to P Vastrakar in 41.5 overs at 23 runs. New Zealand made 260 runs at 9 wickets at the end of the first day.

India Vs New Zealand Day 2:

As now the tables turned, On day two, the Indian women’s team received the Batting. The match began and at 10 runs, India lost one of the wickets of Mandhana. As she went for six but lost her wicket. India had a trembling start today, Deepti joined Yastika and became her batting partner on the field. However, the overs passed Yastika seemed desperate to hit the ball outside the boundary and there she found the boundary and hit a four. Though unfortunately, India lost their second wicket not so long after they lost the first wicket. At 26 runs India lost the second wicket. After losing the second wicket, the captain Mithali Raj joined Yastika on the field. As the five overs finished India reached 46 runs. 

Further, India lost their opening player Yastika’s wicket after making 28 runs on the field. Harmanpreet comes on the field to join Mithali Raj. At the fourth wicket, India had 97 runs in the match. Though bad luck for India they lost one more wicket just after they lost their fourth wicket. India landed in big trouble as they lost Rana’s wicket at 127 runs. Not so far New Zealand takes India’s 7th Wicket and land close to winning the match. However, Harmanpreet lost her wicket at 178 runs. Unfortunately, India lost the match at 198 runs in 46.4 overs. New Zealand Won today’s match by 62 runs. 

To Conclude:

India had hard luck today, as they lost the match by 62 runs. As for New Zealand, they maintained their place on the chart by making two wins in the world cup. Though, India has fallen to the fifth rank in the World Cup.
