IPL 2022: Ahmedabad Franchise Taking Part For The Second Time in The Indian Premier League (IPL)

IPL 2022 is gaining a lot of attention these days. The Ahmedabad Franchise made some changes. The Ahmedabad franchise took part for the first time in 2016 and 2017 as “Gujarat Lions”. The Ahmedabad Franchise renamed the team as “Gujarat Titans” for IPL 2022. The Ahmedabad Franchise confirmed the name on Wednesday. 

The owner of team Siddharth Patel verified that Ahmedabad’s IPL franchise named the team ‘Gujarat Titans’ on Wednesday. Hardik Pandya is the newest addition to the team confirmed by the Owner on Wednesday. 

Hardik Pandya is an all-rounder who released himself from Mumbai Indians to be part of Gujarat Titans. Hardik Pandya started his debut with Mumbai Indians. Being an all-rounder and his playing style makes him a key player for a team. His hitting style and medium-fast bowling is his USP. While he was part of Mumbai Indians, he was offered ₹11 crores. Hardik Pandya has been a part of IPL since 2015 and played 66 matches. He accumulated 1068 runs in 66 IPL matches with an average of 28.86 and a strike rate of 154.78. 

Along with Hardik Pandya, Ahmedabad Franchise also signed Rashid Khan (leg-spinner) and Shubman Gill, the India Youngster player. 

Best Leg-Spinner- Rashid khan

Former Afghanistan cricketer, Rashid Khan is a leg-spinner and played as Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last IPL. He finished with 20 wickets and attained the season’s best economy rate. Rashid Khan is the first bowler who maintained his economy rate under 6 runs an over. He got 15 or more wickets. Rashid Khan was offered ₹11 crores by Sunrisers Hyderabad, but the Ahmedabad Franchise has signed Rashid Khan for ₹15 crores.

 Youngest Emerging Player- Shubman Gill 

Former India Youngest player, Shubman Gill is just 21 years old but has proved himself over past years. He started his debut in 2018 and never looked back after that. He has earned the ‘Emerging Player of the Year’ award for his harmonious performance in IPL last year. He has played in various batting orders, but is particularly known as an opening batsman. 

Hardik Pandya and Rashid khan were offered the same amount for Rs 15 crore, on the other hand, Shubman Gill was signed for ₹8 crores. Hardik Pandya will be full-time captain of Gujarat Titans for IPL 2022. Ashish Nehra was appointed as Head coach for the team, who was the Former Indian Pacer. Gary Kirsten was appointed as Mentor for the Gujarat Titans. He was the former South African batter and coached India’s ODI world cup in 2011.

Gary Kirsten had said on Star sports that he is looking forward to working with Hardik Pandya. He thinks Hardik Pandya is an amazing player. According to him, Hardik Pandya will be motivated to show that he is capable of handling the team as a Captain.
