IPL’ 22 is just around the corner. The fans all over India are excited for the action packed tournament. There are two new additions of teams for the tournament- Lucknow and Ahmedabad. This calls for an amazing tournament for everyone around.
With the player auctions right around the corner, BCCI confirms the availability of English players. The availability of Aussie players is subject to a few conditions.
Two new teams are now added to the tournament- Lucknow and Ahmedabad. With the tournament now being a 10-team format, the group stage is going to extend.
The England team is to start their 1st WTC against New Zealand on 2nd
2022. So the English players will be available till May 29.
“After the IPL, the ECB is committed to starting the 1st WTC Test Match v New Zealand on 2 June, 2022. The player availability for all the ECB players will be through to Sunday, 29 May, 2022,” reads the mail by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, as per Cricbuzz.
Ben Stokes and Joe Root have pulled out of the IPL this year, but other players of the squad are fully available.
As for the Australian players, they will be away on tour in Pakistan for the duration of March-April. Cricket Australia also stressed that the players will be needed home for the tournament of Sheffield Shield which will end in April.
It is evident that they want the players to participate in the home tournament which ends on 4th April.
“The State players whose team does not qualify for the Sheffield Shield Final will be available from March 27. State players whose team qualifies for the Sheffield Shield Final will be available from 5, April,” further reads the mail by BCCI.
The availability of all the players is a subject of concern for the franchise. The temporary absence may affect the team scores and results too.
And for the Sri Lankan players, they will also be missing the early action. They are going to be touring Bangladesh for a tournament with them.
