In the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League, Kolkata Knight Riders will be seeking for a fresh start. They were defeated by the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in the 2021 IPL finals. Shreyas Iyer, Mohammad Nabi, Ajinkya Rahane, Aaron Finch, and Sam Billings are among the new names on the lineup for the two-time IPL champions.

Important Milestone For Mohammad Nabi

Mohammad Nabi, the Afghanistan cricket team’s T20 captain, is the first Afghan player to play for the KKR. Now, the former Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman is on the verge of breaking a major T20 record.

The Afghan international has taken 13 wickets and scored 180 runs in 17 matches in the cash-rich competition. Individually, his highest score is 31 runs. He has a 151.26 percent strike rate.

If Nabi plays in the opening game against CSK on Saturday, he’ll be able to surpass 5000 runs. He only needs four runs to join the elite group of all-rounders who have taken over 300 wickets and scored over 5000 runs in T20 cricket. So far, Nabi has 302 wickets to his name.

Career Of Mohammad Nabi

Mohammad Nabi is an astute off-spinner from Afghanistan and one of the best all-rounders in the country’s history. He has been a part of practically all of Afghanistan’s accomplishments. He played in both the first-ever ODI and the first-ever Test match. Nabi was also the team’s captain when they won their first game against a Test-playing nation. The victory came in the 2014 Asia Cup versus Bangladesh.

Mohammad made his ODI debut against Scotland in 2009. He had a fantastic game with the bat, scoring a beautiful fifty, but he went wicketless with the ball. Soon after, Nabi made his T20I debut. Despite his poor batting performance, Nabi was economical and took one wicket. Nabi became the captain of the squad in 2013. He guided the team to victories in the 2014 Asia Cup and the 2015 World Cup.

Nabi was an instrumental part in Afghanistan’s advancement to the Super 10 stage of the 2016 T20 World Cup. Mohammad was also a member of the Test squad that faced India in the team’s first-ever Test match. During Afghanistan’s terrible 2019 World Cup, he was the highest wicket-taker.

Over the years, the all-rounder has played in a variety of leagues. In the Bangladesh Premier League, he has played for Sylhet Royals, Rangpur Riders, Chittagong Vikings, and Comilla Victorians. Mohammad played for the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League. Nabi was the first Afghan player to be selected for the Indian T20 League in 2017. He was signed by Hyderabad and played an important role for them with both bat and ball.

Endnote

Every day, Afghanistan strives to cope with life. Cricket is a national hope for Afghanisthan, not just a kind of amusement. Since 2009, Nabi has been the torchbearer. He is the all-around talent that every T20 squad desires, and as a result, he is in high demand from a variety of organisations.
