After injuring a muscle in his left forearm, Mumbai Indians middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav has been termed out of the rest of the IPL 2022. He sustained the injuries in Mumbai’s encounter versus Gujarat Titans on May 6, wherein he hit an 11-ball 13 to help his team win by five runs.

The decision to suspend Suryakumar from the Mumbai Indians’ squad was made in conjunction with the BCCI’s health team, according to a statement released before their match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday evening.

Suryakumar has been incapacitated for the 2nd time in recent months due to injuries. He spent 3 weeks rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru before the commencement of the IPL after sustaining a hairline fracture on his thumb in the final game of the T20I series against West Indies on February 22.

Suryakumar Yadav IPL Statistics:

As a matter of fact, he was expected to forfeit the opening week of the league and only made Mumbai’s XI for their 3rd match of the tournament, versus Knight Riders on April 6. Suryakumar became the team’s second-highest run-scorer ended up playing only 8 matches, with 303 runs at an average of 43.28 and a strike rate of 145.67 in what has been a disappointing season for the five-time IPL champions, who have battled to move themselves off the bottom of the points table.

Suryakumar seems to be in a battle to be ready for India’s five T20Is against South Africa starting June 9 at home, with an eye on the T20 World Cup later in the year.
