Deepak Chahar is the most expensive buy for the Chennai Super Kings. He became part of the squad for a whopping fee of Rs. 14 crores.
The bowling all-rounder performed brilliantly within the third T20I against West Indies at the Eden Gardens as he dismissed Kyle Mayers and Shai Hope within the 11 deliveries he bowled within the match. Unable to finish his 2nd over, he went to the bottom and out of the game.
Deepak Chahar’s home season ended early because of this. This right-arm pacer was completing the 2nd over of his spell when he stopped midway.
Chahar could not complete the over and had to steer off the sector thanks to a hamstring injury. As a result of this, Chahar will miss three T20Is against Sri Lanka.
A source has suggested that Chahar might miss out on the T20 League. The injury he suffered looks really bad, and he might miss the starting few games, if not more.
Missing Out On The IPL
If he gets ruled out, it’ll be an enormous blow to the franchise and, therefore, the player. Deepak Chahar emerged as the 2nd costliest pick of the IPL 2022 mega auction and drew bids from four franchises. Aside from CSK, Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Delhi Capitals (DC) were keen to urge his services. RR made the penultimate bid worth Rs 13.75 crore.
In a report by TOI, a source has told that Deepak Chahar’s injury “looks bad,” and he could miss the marquee Indian T20 league due to the injury.
“His injury looks bad. For all you know, he could be out of the IPL too (the Chennai Super Kings bought him for Rs 14 crore in the IPL auction),” a source was quoted as saying by TOI.
Meanwhile, CSK is likely to begin preparing for the upcoming season from the 2nd week of March. The BCCI confirmed that the tournament will happen in India from the last week of March to May. The fixtures and venues will be announced within the next few days.
We all wish Deepak Chahar a speedy recovery. The fans are all expecting to see the all-rounder in full gear during the tournament.
