Ravi Shastri has been the head coach of the team for around three years. His tenure began in June 2017, when he was first appointed for the same role. In addition to Shastri, Saurav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, and VVS Laxman were also on the Cricket Advisory Committee. Further ahead, in June 2019, BCCI made an extension to his contract of 45 days. Then next they appointed Shastri again until ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Nevertheless, the last run was also not so good. India did not even make it to the semi-finals even.

Shastri personally selected Thangarasu Natrajan, a bowler for the Indian cricket squad. In all the matches Natrajan was in they were tasting success.

“Every game I’ve picked him we won. In his debut in T20, India win. In his debut in Test cricket, India win. From a net bowler, he played those other two formats,” Shastri added in an interview.

This year at TATA IPL 2022 we see that Natrajan has made his comeback. Furthermore, he has improved his physical condition. In the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Natrajan went through a knee injury. After playing just two matches, Natrajan was suffering an injury. The knee injury cost him some part of the tournament. In addition to that, Natrajan was infected with the Covid-19 virus. It came in as a huge blunder. This led to his dismissal through the second leg of IPL 2021 in the UAE.

Sunrise Hyderabad purchased Natrajan ahead of the TATA IPL 2022 two-day super auctions. On 4th April 2022, Sunrise Hyderabad and Lucknow SuperGiants locked horns against each other. The match was taking place at DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. Furthermore, the match had seen the comeback of T. Natrajan, an Indian bowling pacer. Sunrise Hyderabad was bowling in their first innings. During the clash, he managed to take down two wickets for 26 runs. Towards the last overs, KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya were on the pitch. This, in turn, helped Sunrise Hyderabad to confine the Giants at 169 runs for seven wickets.

However, the team of Sunrise Hyderabad could not win the match that day. Nevertheless, on the brighter side, we got to see the comeback of Natrajan. The ICC T20 World Cup tournament is set to begin in October 2022. With Natrajan back on the team this year, the bowling order is stronger. Top-tier performers have been packed in the batting order.

Other than India, there are eleven other teams in the tournament. Last year, twelve teams qualified for the Super 12 phase this year. Let us see what the future holds this year.
