This year at TATA IPL 2022, Ravichandran Ashwin has decided to retire tactically. Moreover, Rajasthan Royals (RR) have become the first one to use this move as a strategy in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After Rajasthan Royals (RR) vs Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) this decision came out. Nevertheless, this retirement may prove to be beneficial for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the future.

Who is Ravichandran Ashwin?

Ravichandran Ashwin, born on 17th September 1986, is a crucial part of the Indian national cricket team. In the post-Anil-Kumble era, he has been on a roll, by being a leading spinner. Moreover, he’s a good all-rounder because of his consistent batting and safe slip fielding. As a result, Ravichandran may indeed be regarded to contribute to the squad in all areas.

  • Personal Life

The young boy would work for Southern Railways and at the same time, he used to play club cricket for Egmore Excelsiors. Nevertheless, education is a necessity and must not be avoided at any cost. Though Ashwin’s parents supported him to play the sport but never compromised on his studies. “We never compromise on education, and Ashwin was mature enough to accept that”, said Chitra, his mother.

  • Cricket Career on The Go!

As an opening batsman, Ashwin used to face a variety of bowling styles. Furthermore, it helped Ashwin to groom his technique. A technique that has made him splendid for someone who bats so low down their order.

In a shocking event, he faced a severe pelvic area injury at the age of 14. It was an injury in the ligament. As a result, blood would leak into his bone joints. He would have had implants which would have put a halt to his cricket career. Luckily, we sought a second opinion from another orthopedic doctor…We had to put him on bed rest for two months, and he was out of action for almost eight months. Even after that, he was limping for some time.”  Ashwin’s mother Chitra said in an interview.

Chitra, Ashwin’s mother, played an important role in getting him back into the game. Once Ashwin was back on the field, his mother had suggested he try a hand at spin bowling. And the rest of the records are history.

Today, Ravichandran proudly stands in front of the audience as one of the all-time greatest players.

EndNote:

Towards the end of the match, after his first over was finished, he walked back to the locker room. Ashwin was scoring high. But he still left for Riyan Parag to join Hetmyer. The original XI for RR had Riyan and not him. Therefore, in a shocking turn of events, he passed the torch.
