At the blockbuster auction last month, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) acquired fast bowler Deepak Chahar for a whopping Rs 14 crore. They were clearly hoping for him to be the crux of their bowling attack. However, Chahar could miss the majority of the season as a result of a leg injury. Chahar’s absence from the IPL 2022 may be a major setback for Chennai Super Kings.

Chahar’s Unfortunate Injury

Last month, Chahar tore his quadriceps in the third T20I against the West Indies. The right quadriceps muscle of the Rajasthan bowler was injured. He was bowling in the third and last T20I of the series against the West Indies, which ended recently.

He was immediately carried off the field and was forced to miss the rest of the series against Sri Lanka. Chahar is now receiving therapy at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will most likely be out of the game for an extended period of time. As a result, he may be unable to compete in the IPL’s 15th edition.

CSK’s Dilemma

CSK are in a pinch right now, trying to find a successor for him. Despite the fact that CSK is one of those level-headed franchises, Chahar’s absence will undoubtedly cause them concern. The team strategists may already be looking at possible replacement options, if the 29-year-old bowler does not recover in time.

Here are five possible players who could replace Chahar in CSK:

  1. Ishanth Sharma: CSK is one of the franchisees always relied on expertise to win games in the past. Ishant Sharma is an Indian cricketer who has spent more than a decade as a journeyman. Dhoni is fully aware of what Ishant can offer to the table, having spent a significant amount of time with him. As a result, he’s an excellent last-minute substitute alternative.
  2. Dhawal Kulkarni: Due to his strong domestic numbers, Dhawal Kulkarni has always remained in and around Indian cricket. With his ability to swing the new ball, the right-arm fast bowler has a comparable skill set to Deepak Chahar.
  3. Arzan Nagwaswalla: Arzan Nagwaswalla, 24, was under the radar of national selectors in recent times, which is a recognition of his talent. For India’s World Test Championship final against New Zealand, the fast bowler was part of the traveling reserves. Nagwaswalla, a left-arm rapid bowler, can add a new dimension to CSK’s bowling choices.
  4. Sandeep Warrier: Sandeep Warrier, a right-arm fast bowler, made his T20I debut for India in 2021. In the domestic circuit, he is one of the most sought-after fast bowlers. The 30-year-old can get a lot of bounce off the ground. In the CSK’s bowling setup, he may be an ideal foil.
  5. Akash Singh: Akash Singh, 19, is still a young man, but he has already proven his worth on the international stage. The Rajasthani bowler was a member of the Indian U19 team at the 2021 U19 World Cup. Singh can inject some new energy into the CSK set-up with his raw pace and no-fear attitude. Because the bowler has yet to face many batsmen in the IPL, CSK can take advantage of his novelty aspect.
There are many sports in the world. Some people likes football, and others likes cricket or basketball. But I love to play cricket because it is a game of gentalman. I am a left-handed batsman and a left-arm orthodox bowler. I played an inter-college tournaments. Also, I represented my college cricket team as vice captain. Ms. Dhoni is my idol, and the Chennai Super Kings are my all-time favourite franchise.
