Mayank Agarwal was his first victim as he rattled his timber with a peach of a delivery. The ball tailed just the bit to beat the surface edge and went straight onto the off stump. Then he dismissed Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran within three deliveries. With this momentum, MS Dhoni made him bowl all his four overs on the trot, and he got obviate Deepak Hooda to end his spell with a wicket. He finished with figures of 4/13, his best figures within the Indian Premier League thus far.

In an interview after the innings, Chahar said, “I feel it had been more seam than swing and that we bowled within the right areas. Last year was difficult for all the people. I had Covid, was in quarantine for 28 days, and played for only four days. It had been difficult straightaway to play a game from quarantine on my behalf. We prepared well for the game today and tried to do tons of designing because the primary two games here were high-scoring.

We got a while to organize, and things went our way as we executed well. I feel chasing 107 will be easy for us, and hopefully, we’ll finish well and keep the run rate high.” Riding on Deepak Chahar‘s superb bowling performance, CSK restricted Punjab Kings to 106/8 — rock bottom team total thus far

this season.

End Note

The fans for the Chennai Super Kings will for sure be excited to see Deepak back in action from the injury.
