Glenn Maxwell aka Glenn James Maxwell is a cricketer who plays for Australia’s national cricket team in ODI and Twenty20 formats and played Test cricket for Australia. Maxwell is an all-rounder who bats right-handed. He plays for Victoria and Melbourne Stars in Australian domestic cricket and currently playing in the IPL 2022 for the RCB franchise.
His professional cricketing career started when he began playing for Victoria in the Twenty20 Big Bash in 2010. Furthermore, he is known worldwide for his dramatic shot-making and improvisation within the sport. Glenn scored 102 from 52 balls against Sri Lanka in the 2015 World Cup, the second-fastest World Cup century so far. Furthermore, he also scored an unbeaten 145* from 65 balls against Sri Lanka in 2016, the fourth-highest score in Twenty20 Internationals.
Despite his power-hitting within the short format of the game, he has shown ability within the longer formats, including a maiden test century against India in Ranchi on 16 March 2017. He became the second Australian to attain centuries in all the three forms after Shane Watson and joined the club of only 13 other cricketers who have achieved this milestone. Glenn Maxwell was born in Kew and played junior cricket for South Belgrave CC. He started cricket as a pace bowler before remodeling his run-up and becoming an off-spin bowler. He also features a deceptively solid and accurate throw to effect run-outs. Maxwell’s teammates and, therefore, the media gave him the nickname “The Big Show” thanks to his confidence and tendency to play extravagant shots, especially a good array of sweep shots.
He, however, prefers the nickname “Maxi.” Al Jazeera’s documentary indirectly accused Glenn Maxwell as a chief suspect in the possible match-fixing allegations during the 3rd match game held between India and Australia, which happened at Ranchi. Glenn Maxwell joined the Victorian team in July 2009 and was called into the FDR squad when Andrew McDonald got injured. Glenn played in the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes tournament and was named Player of the Tournament when the Australian team became champions for the first time.
He joined the Australian Institute of Sports in the 2010 Emerging Players Tournament. He put 63 on the board against India in the semi-final.

Glenn Maxwell made his ODI debut for Australia against Afghanistan during a One Day International in the United Arab Emirates in 2012. He scored two runs. In his 2nd ODI, against Pakistan, he hit 38 runs off 38 balls, helping rescue Australia from a problematic 5–121 to victory. He followed it with 28 runs off 27 balls within the second ODI but lost. In the third ODI, Glenn Maxwell scored 56, including a six to seal victory for Australia; he also took 0-33.
Maxwell joined the squad for 2013, 2012-13 Indian tours. Australia hoped to use him as an all-rounder despite his erratic bowling form. In March 2013, Glenn made his Test debut against India in Hyderabad. He made it because he was the second spinner within the team, supporting Xavier Doherty. Maxwell did not impress the bat, making 13 and eight within the first and second innings, but took 4/127 with the ball.
Glenn Maxwell left the team within the third Test as Australia went with more specialist bowlers. He made a comeback within the fourth and final Test in Delhi thanks to Michael Clarke getting injured.
