About Hardik

Hardik Pandya is an International Indian cricketer. He was born on October 11, 1993, in Surat, Gujarat. Hardik bats right-handed and bowls right-arm fast-medium. He is an all-rounder.

His father’s name is Himanshu Pandya, and his mother’s name is Nalini Pandya. He also has a brother, Krunal Pandya.

His father owned a modest car finance business in Surat. He left and relocated to Vadodara when Hardik Pandya was five years old to provide better cricket training facilities for his sons. Kiran More’s cricket academy in Vadodara accepted his two sons (Hardik and Krunal). Due to their financial difficulties, the Pandya family resided in a leased flat in Gorwa, with the brothers driving a used car to the cricket stadium. Hardik went to MK High School until ninth grade, when he dropped out to concentrate on cricket.

On January 1, 2020, Pandya married Natasa Stankovic, a Serbian dancer, and actress based in India. Agastya Pandya, the couple’s first child, was born on July 30.

Domestic Career

Since 2013, Pandya is a member of the Baroda cricket squad. Furthermore, in the 2013–14 season, he turned out as a key in Baroda lifting the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In January 2016, he hit eight sixes in an unbeaten 86-run innings to lead Baroda to a six-wicket victory over Vidarbha.

In the Indian Premier League, initially, Hardik Pandya became a member of the Mumbai Indians. He knocked a 61 off 31 balls to win the match for his team and receive his second man of the game of that season against Kolkata Knight Riders, in a must-win situation for Mumbai Indians to stay in the fight for the top four teams. Pandya received the ‘Yes Bank maximum sixes prize for the exact match.’ 

Pandya left the Mumbai Indians before the IPL 2022 big auction and joined as the new Gujarat Titans club captain in Ahmedabad.

International Career

At the age of 22, Hardik Pandya made his T20 International debut for India against Australia on January 27, 2016. In addition, Chris Lynn fell victim as his first T20 International wicket. He batted before Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni in the second T20I against Sri Lanka at Ranchi. Furthermore, he scoring 27 off 14 balls before getting out by Thisara Perera for a hat-trick. Pandya smashed an 18-ball 31 at the 2016 Asia Cup, boosting India’s decent score against Bangladesh.

Hardik Pandya got two critical wickets in the final three balls of the match’s last over to beat Bangladesh by one run in a 2016 World Twenty20. Pandya got selected to India’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021.

On October 16, 2016, Pandya made his One Day International debut for India against New Zealand. Furthermore, after Sandeep Patil, Mohit Sharma, and K. L. Rahul, he is the fourth Indian to get the man of the match on his first ODI match. He hit 36 runs off 32 balls in his first ODI innings as a batsman. Hardik Pandya whopped three consecutive sixes off of the deliveries of Imad Wasim in the ICC Champions Trophy. After going in to bat at 54/5, he scored a 76 in 43 balls in losing in the Champions Trophy final at the Oval. 

Hardik Pandya joined India’s Test squad for their home series against England. Although he could not play after injuring himself while practicing in the PCA Stadium nets. In July 2017, he joined the Indian squad travelling to Sri Lanka, and he played his debut Test on July 26 in Galle. Hardik Pandya made his maiden Test century in the third and final Test against Sri Lanka in Pallekele, breaking the record of being the first Indian batsman to register a Test century before lunch. He also broke the record for most runs scored in a single over of a Test innings for India, with 26 runs. This was his first century in international cricket.
