He described how he would go to trials “I used to sleep on platforms in Lucknow and Kanpur. I used to buy a platform ticket and stay there all night. I’ve always struggled financially. I never ventured to ask my brothers for money. For trials, I only had one pair of white garments “.Shane Warne once characterised Khan as “a youngster, a slinger, a left-armer. Kamran Khan is a short bowler who generates a good pace and can reach speeds of over 140kph at times. With his bowling, he pleased Rajasthan Royals director of coaching Darren Berry, and the Royals offered him an IPL contract for the second edition of the event.

When Rajasthan Royals offered Kamran Khan, a US$24,000 contract, he had no first-class experience. He was mostly a tennis-ball player until April 2009, when he bowled Cape Cobras’ Justin Ontong with an off-stump yorker in Rajasthan’s warm-up game. His debut IPL game was in Apr 18, 2009 against Kolkata Knight Riders.

He only appeared in a few games for them till 2010, when he moved on to the Pune Warriors in 2011. He pleased Shane Warne enough that he was given the duty of bowling the Super Over during his time with the Royals. He returned his captain’s faith by contributing to the Royals’ one-over eliminator victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders.

During the 2009 IPL, Kamran Khan was also accused of having questionable bowling motions after his pace fooled numerous batsmen. He also had a slingy action that a lot of people couldn’t figure out. After two seasons with Rajasthan, Khan was acquired by the Pune Warriors India for the 2011 season of the IPL. He did, however, only appear in one match for Pune.

Khan made his first-class debut for Colts Cricket Club in March 2013, nearly two years after his last twenty20 match.
