Krunal Pandya is an Indian international cricketer who plays for Baroda in domestic cricket and Lucknow Super Giants within the IPL. He’s an all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls slow left-arm orthodox. Pandya made his international debut for the Indian team in November 2018. In 2021, he scored the quickest half-century by a cricketer on his ODI debut.

Personal Life

He is Hardik Pandya’s elder brother. Furthermore, in 2017, he married Pankhuri Sharma.

In January 2021, Indian cricketer Deepak Hooda sent a complaint letter to the Baroda Cricket Association accusing Krunal Pandya of using ‘abusive language’ and ‘threats to finish his career. Deepak pulled himself out of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021.Furthermore, on July 27, 2021, he tested COVID positive.                                   

In January 2022, Pandya’s Twitter account got hacked, and suspicious tweets were posted from an alleged bitcoin scammer. Later, all of the hacker’s tweets were deleted, and Pandya posted a tweet apologizing.

Krunal Pandya made his first-class debut on October 6, 2016, playing for Baroda during the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy tournament. Within the subsequent few months, he became the leading run-scorer and leading wicket-taker for Baroda in the 2016-17 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Krunal scored 366 runs in 8 matches, making for a mean of 45.75 and a strike rate of 81.33. This included three half-centuries, with a high score of 78. He took 11 wickets in eight matches with an economy rate of 4.82, a mean of 25.09, and a strike rate of 31.10. In 2017 he played in an India A tri-series victory over South Africa A and Afghanistan A.

He was the leading run-scorer for Baroda within the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, with 366 runs in eight matches. In October 2018, he joined India A’s squad for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy. Pandya also became the captain of Baroda for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-2020.

In October 2018, Pandya joined India’s Twenty20 International squads for their matches against the West Indies and Australia. He made his debut for India against the West Indies on November 4, 2018, took one wicket, and scored an unbeaten 21 off nine balls. He was selected for the India Twenty20 International team against Australia and played all three. Within the first match, he conceded 55 runs in four overs but took 1/26 within the T20I and received the Player of the Match award in the third match for his bowling of 4/36 in 4 overs.

In March 2021, he joined India’s ODI squad for the series against England. He made the ODI debut for India on March 23, 2021, against England. His half-century was the fastest on debut in an ODI match, coming from 26 balls.

IPL Career

At the 2016 IPL auction, Mumbai Indians bought Krunal Pandya for two crores. He made the IPL debut in April 2016, playing against Gujarat Lions at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. For his performances within the 2016 IPL season.

In 2016, Krnual Pandya scored 86 from 37 balls and took wickets of Quinton De Kock and Zaheer Khan. Furthermore, he received the Player of the Match against Delhi Daredevils at Visakhapatnam. He continued to supply consistent performances with the bat and ball throughout the tournament. He received the Player of the Match for his performance of 47 during a final victory against Rising Pune Supergiant.

In January 2018, Pandya joined the Mumbai Indians within the 2018 IPL auction. Moreover, he scored 160 against Railways in the Ranji trophy with 21 boundaries, and he was the best run-scorer within the first innings for Baroda with a strike rate of 73.06 in his second first-class game.

In IPL 2021, Pandya’s over-aggressive reactions over the sector took center stage. Tons of times, he got angry on the fielders when there was no chance that the ball might be stopped. While some slammed Krunal for his behavior, few have turned him into meme material trolling him. Later in the tournament, Pandya grabbed the eye over his questionable behavior again after being caught throwing a moisturizer bottle towards Anukul Roy during the match against Rajasthan Royals.

In the 2022 IPL Auction, the Lucknow Super Giants bought Pandya for ₹8.25 crores.

Dream Debut

Team India all-rounder Krunal Pandya had a dream ODI debut on Tuesday (March 23) against England within the series-opener of the continued three-match ODI series in Pune. The Mumbai Indians star smashed fifty in only 26 balls, thus breaking the planet record for the fastest fifty by a debutant in ODI cricket.

Furthermore, KL Rahul (62) and Krunal Pandya’s (58) partnership, in the end, propelled India’s score to 317/5 within the first ODI at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

Both added 111 of their 112 runs within the last nine overs as they sent English bowlers on a bad spell.
