Former Indian Bowling All-rounder, Ravichandran Ashwin- The All-rounder came so far in his cricket career with hard work and determination to convert passion into reality. The Chennai bowler came into the world on September 17, 1986. Currently, Ashwin is 35 years old. Ashwin follows a Right-Handed batting style. As for his bowling style, Ashwin followed Right-arm offbreak.

Ravichandran Ashwin burst onto the segment with his modish and street-smart utilization in a shorter period during the game in the Indian Premier League. Though his test debut in 2011 played against West Indies, Ashwin came up with a habit of picking up wickets, specifically in dry and dusty order as it compliments his bowling style. He earned the name for himself through shorter format matches. Moreover, He proved himself a reliable bowler in T20 matches by playing with intelligence and accuracy. 

He made his own place in the world of cricket after Harbhajan Singh. At the domestic level, his harmonious performance over seasons made him stand out. Even, he arose the opportunity to become part of the BCCI. In 2009, he led the Tamil Nadu team to victory in the One Day International matches. Ashwin acted as a replacement for Harbhajan Singh in early 2010 matches conducted against South Africa. 

With Ashwin’s outstanding performance for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Due to his outstanding performance in IPL, he received the opportunity to represent India in Zimbabwe for the tri-series. Ashwin made it to the Indian Team for the 2011 World Cup. Though, he only earned the opportunity to become part of two games. He played quarter-finals as part of the Indian Team though he got omitted for the Finals. 

In the subsequent year after the World Cup, Ravichandran Ashwin received the opportunity to play as a lead spinner in the Test series against the West Indies. He built a successful partnership with Pragyan Ojha, the left-arm spinner in the Test match.

Ashwin’s Achievements

In 2013, During Border-Gavaskar Trophy Ravichandran Ashwin earned the title the Man of the series. He came a long way, from being a go-to bowler to the lead spinner in the test series. He took an impressive 29 wickets in the test series. Ashwin became the third-spinner who took more than 20 wickets in the series. During his first Test series played against West Indies, Ashwin made his second Test ton. Moreover, Ashwin also made the record of seventh wicket partnership along with Rohit. The dua made 208 runs in partnership. Further, He made a record of 100 wickets during his 18th Test. 

With the passing season Ashwin performed consistently well in the tournaments he participated. He earned the trust of the team and became the secured off spin bowler. But he did not receive much appreciation in the overseas tournament. Ashwin received the chance to participate in two England tours, but unfortunately his performance was below average. In early 2018, during the match played in South Africa, he improved his overseas performance and he proved that in that match. 

Ravichandran Ashwin played 86 Test matches, and made 2931 runs in the matches he played. He maintained the average batting rate of 26.89 and strike rate of 54.52. His highest score in test series as per stats appears 124 runs. Nevertheless, he got 14 no-balls in the test series. Ashwin hit 5 times 100s, 12 times he scored 50s. In the test series, he hit 339 times 4s, and 16 times sixes. 

As for The One Day International, he earned the opportunity to play 113 matches. Further, he played 63 innings in the ODI tournament. He maintained the Average rate of 16.44 and made 707 runs in the ODI matches. Thus, Ashwin maintained a strike rate of 86.96. 

For instance, as per stats for T20I, He played 51 runs in 11 innings. Ashwin made 123 runs in T20I matches. He maintained an average rate of 30.75 and strike rate of 106.96.

IPL- Experience Of Ravichandran Ashwin

A newcomer from Tamil Nadu, Ravichandran Ashwin, received an opportunity while he was part of Chennai Franchises. In 2010, he was appreciated for his work and he earned the nickname carrom ball. In 2011, Super kings re-bought him while Royal Challengers Bangalore also tried their best to take him in their team. The franchise retained the off-spinner till 2014. He had an amazing economy rate during 2015 i.e. 5.84. He took 10 wickets in 16 games. In 2018, Kings XI Punjab bought Ashwin for 7.6 crore and he got the opportunity to be captain of the team.

Ravichandran Ashwin took all the opportunities and never let anyone down. He performed outstandingly in the domestic tournaments. Though in the initial phase of the international tournament he performed below average but with time he improved his skills in international tournaments as well.
