Ravikumar Samarth is a cricketer from India who represents the Karnataka team. He bats right-handed in the top order and bowls right-arm off break. Ravikumar Samarth, a right-handed batsman who also bowls off-breaks, has established himself as Karnataka’s top batsman. Samarth found a good foothold in the Karnataka Ranji line-up as an opening batsman after the development of talents like KL Rahul and Manish Pandey and their subsequent admittance into the Indian national squad.
Ravikumar Samarth made his first-class debut for Karnataka during the 2013-14 season, after competing at several age-level events. He opened the game with a superb 75 against Mumbai, a performance that served as a springboard for further victories. Samarth scored 487 runs at an average of slightly over 40 in the 2015-16 Indian domestic season, but the 2016-17 season witnessed the emergence of a formidable top-order batsman.
With 702 runs at 46.80, Ravikumar Samarth easily became Karnataka’s best run-scorer, assuring that national selectors would keep a watch on him in the future. When the India ‘A’ squad toured their South African counterparts for two unofficial four-day Tests, he was called up as an injured substitute for Abhinav Mukund.
During the domestic season, the Bangalore lad continued to assert himself. Samarth scored 652 runs in 12 innings at an average of 59.27 in the 2017/18 Ranji Trophy season, and was a key factor in Karnataka reaching the Ranji semi-finals and winning the Vijay Hazare Trophy a few months later. Despite his outstanding achievements, Samarth was unable to secure a bid and was thus unable to participate in the IPL auctions.
After the IPL, the selectors rewarded the 25-year-old by including him in the India A squad for the 4-day England tour, and Ravikumar Samarth made an immediate impact with a match-defining 127 in the second innings against West Indies A.
Ravikumar Samarth attended Bishop Cotton Boys’ School and SBM Jain College, both of which are part of Jain University in Bangalore. He trained at the Karnataka Institute of Cricket while at Bishop Cottons. He also captained his high school’s cricket team at the U-14 and U-16 levels, starting both the batting and bowling innings. He went on to lead other successful inter-school cricket teams in India.
He was known for his passion on the field and his calm manner off it throughout his high school years. Ravikumar, his father, is a clerk at the State Bank of India. Mowna, his older sister, is a Yahoo! employee. He just got engaged to Uttara Prakash and announced it on Instagram on January 1st, which also happened to be his 100th post. He was a good sprinter and tennis player, according to his father.
In the KSCA league, Ravikumar Samarth played division cricket. In the national Under-19 championships, the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and the Cooch Behar Trophy, he scored over 1200 runs in 2011.
In the Safi Darashah Trophy in 2013, he hit six hundreds in eight innings for the KSCA President’s XI, including five hundreds in a row. In December 2013, he made his first-class debut for Karnataka against Mumbai, scoring 18 and 75 in the first innings.
He was picked to India C’s team for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy in October 2018. He was purchased by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League competition in February 2022.
On 5 February 2018, Ravikumar Samarth made his List A debut for Uttar Pradesh in the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was picked to India’s team for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2019. Ravikumar Samarth was purchased by the Rajasthan Royals in the 2020 IPL auction ahead of the 20 lakhs Indian Premier League. On October 6, 2020, he made his Twenty20 debut for the Rajasthan Royals against the Mumbai Indians in the 2020 Indian Premier League.
Tyagi was picked as one of four supplementary bowlers to accompany the Indian cricket team on their visit to Australia on October 26, 2020. Tyagi was named Man of the Match on September 21, 2021, after conceding only one run in the final over against Punjab Kings while defending four. Ravikumar Samarth was purchased by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League competition in February 2022.
