AB De Villiers: Experience As Opener And Wicketkeeper/Batsman 

He gained the opportunity to play as Opener and Wicketkeeper/Batsman for his initial Test series. In 2005, He showcased his capabilities by making 460 runs in his initial tour to the Caribbean Islands. In 2006-07, AB de Villiers needed to hold-up until the home series started against West Indies. Further, he made a good comeback by hitting 217 runs by himself in the match against India took place in Ahmedabad. 

He became the first South Africa Cricketer to make a double ton during the match played against India. In November 2010, He made 278 runs while playing against Pakistan in Abu Dubai. He got ranked at the top of the chart for making the highest runs individually of South Africa. However, Amla beat AB de Villiers record by making 311 runs. After that he improvised his batting style to come back stronger.

AB de Villiers played 114 Test matches, and made 8765 runs in the matches he played. He maintained the average batting rate of 50.66 and strike rate of 54.52. His highest score in test series as per stats appears 278 runs. Nevertheless, he got 18 no-balls in the test series. Mr 360 hit 22 times 100s, 46 times he scored 50s. In the test series, he hit 1024 times 4s, and 64 times sixes. 

As for The One Day International, he earned the opportunity to play 228 matches. Further, he played 218 innings in the ODI tournament. He maintained the Average rate of 53.5 and made 9577 runs in the ODI matches. Thus, AB de Villiers maintained a strike rate of 101.1. 

For instance, as per stats for T20I, He played 78 runs in 75 innings. AB de Villiers made 1672 runs in T20I matches. He maintained an average rate of 26.12 and strike rate of 135.17.

Comeback Of AB De Villiers 

In 2011, in the World Cup tournament, when South Africa lost and made exit from the tournament. De Villiers received the opportunity as the Captain of the One Day International and T20I team. Though, he left his post as a captain in early 2013. 

While playing against Pakistan during the 2012-13 season, he took 11 catches. He earned the title of catching most of the balls behind the stump. AB de Villiers and Jack Russell (former England keeper) share the record. In the Second Innings of India’s match against South Africa, he made unbeaten 103 runs. He earned the title as first wicket-keeper to score a century. 

However, in December 2013, when he reached his true potential, De Villiers attained the top batting ranks in both the tournament as a ninth batsman. He maintained his position with determination and outstanding performances in the matches. 

Unfortunately, AB de Villiers declared a shocking retirement before the 2019 World Cup. On May 23, 2018 he announced his retirement from international cricket. He played 114 Test series, 228 One Day Internationals, and 78 T20 Internationals. 

Mr 360 earned the opportunity to be part of the Indian Premier League. He gained a lot of popularity among the crowd. He became the part of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Ahead of 2011, he earned a lot of respect and fan following among the crowd.
