Swapnil Asnodkar is a first-class cricketer from India. He is a hard-hitting right-handed opening hitter who is around 5’5 inches tall. In first-class cricket, he represented Goa, and in the Indian Premier League, he represented Rajasthan Royals.


Swapnil Asnodkar was born in Porvorim, Goa and is 37 years old. He is a batting all-rounder. He plays as a right-handed batsman and is also a Right-arm off break bowler. Swapnil Asnodkar, an attacking, small opener, has been one of Goa’s leading run-getters. He scored 640 runs at 71.11 in the 2007-08 Ranji season, with a personal best of 254 not out against Railways. His achievements, however, went mostly unnoticed, with Goa consistently appearing in the Plate League. 

Ipl Career

He started his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals. He scored 60 runs off 34 balls in his IPL debut against Kolkata Knight Riders. With a strike rate of 176.47, he hit 10 fours and one six in his inning. He rose to popularity in the IPL, when his daring manner drew comparisons to Sri Lanka’s Romesh Kaluwitharana and earned him Shane Warne’s plaudits. He scored 311 runs with a strike rate of 133.47 while playing for Rajasthan Royals.

With South African captain Graeme Smith, he had a powerful opening partnership. By the end of the event, they had combined for 418 runs at a 59.71 average, the highest in the tournament. He scored 244 runs at 34.86 with a strike rate of 127.08 in his seven IPL games.

Swapnil Asnodkar played a total of 34 first class matches, 47 List A matches, and 23 T20 matches. In first class cricket, he has scored a total of 2794 runs with a batting average of 47.35. He has scored 7 100s and 13 50s so far. His best score in first class cricket is 254 runs (not out). In List A cricket, he played 47 matches and scored 1716 runs. He has a batting average of 40.85 runs. So far, he has scored 3 100s and 14 50s. His top score in list a cricket is 120 runs (not out). Finally in t20, he played a total of 23 matches. He scored a total of 519 runs with a batting average of 22.56. He scored two 50s so far, with a top score of 60 runs.

Coming to his bowling performance, he bowled a total of 126 balls in first class cricket, and 38 balls in list A cricket. He took one wicket in first class cricket with a bowling average of 68 runs per wicket. His best balling performance till date is 1 wicket for 21 runs in first class cricket. He is also an excellent fieldsman. He has taken a total of 12 catches in first class cricket, 15 catches in list A cricket, and 7 catches in T20 cricket.

In July 2008, Swapnil Asnodkar was selected for an Indian developing players tour to Israel.
