Early life

The youngest of 4 siblings in her family, Veda Krishnamurthy started playing street cricket when she was 3. As a lass, she started taking karate classes that were not her liking. However, she applauds the martial arts form for building her strength from a feeble age. Furthermore, Veda even received a black belt in karate at the age of 12.

She started her formal cricket training at the Karnataka Institute of Cricket in 2005 when she was 13. Realizing her talent, the institute’s director Irfan Sait urged Veda’s father to shift her to Bengaluru to hone her skills further. The youngest daughter of a cable operating service provider, her father moved from a town in Karnataka’s Chikmagalur to Bengaluru to realize his daughter’s dream of playing for the country at some point.

Karnataka State Cricket Association hosted its first-ever Twenty20 exhibition match between a KSCA President’s XI and a KSCA Secretary’s XI, and Veda received the captain title of the President’s XI. In October 2017, she joined the Hobart Hurricanes for the 2017–18 Women’s Big Bash League season. Furthermore, in the 2021 senior domestic one-day trophy, Veda became the captain of Karnataka and led the team all thanks to the ultimate, where they lost to the Railways.

International career

Veda Krishnamurthy played her debut in international cricket at the age of 18 during an international against England Women’s team in June 2011 and attained 51 runs in therein match.
