In this article, we will talk about Deepak Chahar and the Chennai Super Kings for the 2022 Indian Premier League.
The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is just around the corner. The teams are in full gear training and prepping for the tournament. Moreover, every team is looking forward to winning the league this year.
Furthermore, two new teams are introduced to the Indian Premier League- Lucknow and Ahmedabad. Both of these new franchises will look to perform exceptionally well and possibly win the league in their debut tournament. But what’s new with CSK?
Chennai Super Kings
Overall, the Chennai Super Kings franchise did an excellent job at the 2022 MEGA Auction. They retained most of their wanted players. Moreover, Chennai Super Kings became one of the few teams to fill the 25 player squad list completely. They were still able to save around Rs. 2.35 crores.
Furthermore, Chennai Super Kings bought Deepak Chahar for a whopping Rs. 14 crores.
But this buy started to be questioned when Deepak Chahar suffered the injury during an International game. Fans and the franchise were visibly disappointed with this happening.
But, in recent news, he might be able to play after all.
Sigh Of Relief
As per reports, the bowling all-rounder will undergo surgery, which might have forced him to miss the main part of the upcoming IPL season.
However, Deepak Chahar will not undergo surgery now, stated a report by The Times of India. The right-arm pacer decided against the surgery because it would rule him out of IPL 2022 and dent his chances of 2022 T20 World Cup participation.
Chahar is undergoing an eight-week rehab program at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, and is predicted to be available for CSK selection.
But, as per the report, CSK wants Chahar to join their camp in Surat within the next few weeks. Apparently, the defending champions want to watch the pacer’s fitness and get him ready for the IPL 2022 as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, CSK also roped in Irish pacer Josh Little as a net bowler in the absence of Deepak Chahar.
Notably, CSK will play the IPL 2022 opener against KKR on March 26.
The fans are excited with this news that the pacer will make a comeback.
Deepak is still under the rehab program at the academy and will return soon. The MS Dhoni-led team takes a sigh of relief, as does the franchise owner. Lastly, The 2022 IPL will begin with the high-octane encounter between the previous season’s finalists – CSK and KKR, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
